Cloud Computing and BI
BI in Cloud Computing is extending upon both the SaaS and PaaS
models, as well as incorporating a new aaS appendage - DaaS [Data
as a Service or DataWarehouse as a Service].
Throughout 2008, both mainstream and startup software vendors have
been launching hosted business intelligence (BI) solutions under
the banners of:
- on-demand BI
- BI software-as-a-service (SaaS), and
- BI in the cloud
This is causing some confusion as to exactly which BI applications
are being hosted in a Cloud computing environment.
Taking a look at six different business intelligence product offerings
announced this year:
Panorama Software’s PowerApps - a cloud
hosted extension of the PowerApps engine behind the reporting and
analytics capability of GoogleApps/Docs. More about PowerApps

system.
