Business Intelligence Case Study

- Homeware Manufacturer

Key Business Requirement

Managers need a report to provide decision data such as sales by product category, the revenue of each product, category by month. The main report must also be able to be viewed by client and group.

Current reporting capability [Navision] meant finance, accounting, sales and managing directors were forced to wait results, as "the Monster" was compiled.

The Navision Reports were “very basic, not user friendly, and the cost was prohibitive to get them the way we wanted them.” To get the final outcome, a slow, error-prone, meticulous copy-and-paste process was employed.

Overall, reporting was cumbersome, not timely, error prone and manually intensive.

The company required a faster, more accurate reporting system, based on real time data that could support all areas of the business make better decisions.

Business Benefit

Our previous manufacturing report was a complex report aptly referred to as 'The Monster'. It took IT manager hours to generate. Now the process takes only a few minutes...and it can be done by the business.

With a cumbersome report process, only a few employees learned how to create the reports. JetReports is so easy, many of our employees quickly learned to answer questions and produce new information.

The CEO was able to empower his staff to manage operational decisions, releasing more of his own time to focus on improving business performance.

The solution has also been great for morale and motivation. Employees have enjoyed stretching their capabilities and improving efficiency in their roles by learning and using JetRepots. They now “take a greater part in the business. Jet gives them that capability.”

Existing Data Infrastructure

Navision database - built reports in stages, extracting data from 5,000 to 10,000 records out of Object Designer into Excel, and then filtering to get desired data groups for each report.
